Getting Frida ready to mail

I seem to get into whatever project I am doing at the 11th hour. I played around with different ideas and this is how she ended up. Looking for some box to mail her in is another feat. Not sure what I'm going to do yet.....

I did this painting on her arm, but it was too much.I originally wanted to add some copper, so her whole upper torso and arms were painted. She needed a blouse to cover the sticks used to keep her head on, but my limited sewing only allowed a short sleeve shirt. My mom gave me the idea of sheer black material or lace to cover and the piece I had looked good but it wasn't enough. The lace I ended up buying was too heavy, so on a whim, I painted leaves on her arm. Kind of funky, but way too busy. Then I wrapped her arms with a strip of fabric, as we were taught in her wrapped spirit doll class. Much better.. Posted by Hello

For Mai-Liis' Frida doll I added a blouse, a peacock feather on her skirt, fibers hanging from her waist, hands, beads around her sleeve and neckline. Posted by Hello

a closer look at Mai-Liis' Frida. I sewed some beads around her neck and some around her wrist. Her arms are wrapped with fabric like we did with the spirit dolls Posted by Hello

Being in the Process

There's a lot in the cooker right now. Working on the Frida doll. Have an idea about the sleeve, but just not sure yet. The doll and Kim's book should go out on Thursday, so I need to focus on those two things.
Then there's the color erratica books. One has loose pages and would imagine to be quite freeing. The colors I'm working with are black and metal and the other is green/red. The red/green book is in a box. Such a great idea. I love both books.
Before they go out, attention needs to be put on the flatself RR. I have Debbie and have a bunch of pictures, just need to put it all together. Actually, I'll probably have more pictures from the 4th of July at mom's.
The other project is the spirit doll. I'm in the stage of too many ideas swimming in my head and what i really need to do is stop thinking and just play and see what comes of it.
Off to play.........

This is Cat's Red Black and White book. These are the spreads I did in them. Laurie had started this story that I picked up and ran with....so I let the adventure continue with the spread I did. Paris Dreams.....

The Pink Book

I did 2 spreads in Margaret's Pink book. The first one is about "sweetness". You are so sweet....It's sweet as in candy and sweet as in children and innocense and young love. The other spread is about Love. Pink is Love....a more mature love. Passion. Love in bloom.
I had fun picking through paint chips, choosing colors that had names of sweetness or names of love. "I love you pink", "Valentines day pink".... Mature love is also about universal love, or unconditional love.....All things grow with love.....

2nd post. The screen just went grey on me.....anyway....We were given these boxes for our stamp challenge in stamp club. I originally wanted to do something with sculpey, but it's too hot to put the oven on. I've done these before and they are fun to do. Lady Luck. Someone good to have around.....

Frida and Dorothy meet up in the art room Posted by Hello

My Mandala rocks. I like painting them as a meditation. Some go into the garden, some ended up in the fish pond...... Posted by Hello
